The Hungarian government is a committed supporter of the sporting scene, and in particular, it pays special attention to our nation’s most successful sport in recent decades: the canoeing.

In the framework of the close cooperation between the government and the canoe federation, kayak-canoe and SUP world- and European championships, world cups and even Olympic Hopes competitions have been held countless times in Hungary. Each nation is represented in these competitions with its best athletes, however, there are only a few events that provide an opportunity to experience international competition experience even for young athletes who have not yet reached the national team level. The Tamás Wichmann International Regatta aims to fill this void by contributing not only to the deeper commitment of children who are already actively sporting, but also to encourage all sports-loving people to contribute to the development of their own health through regular physical activity, thus setting a good example for their family and environment.

The competition also aims to show that the canoeing, and sport in general, is an international community-building arena, and the sports friendships developed here help the participants to think across borders, to develop a sense of a global European or even worldwide family, to accept the differences arising from each other’s cultural upbringing and to have unconditional respect for each other, which is the basis of all human coexistence.
