György Kolonics foundation
The György Kolonics Foundation considers it an important task to support the development of the Hungarian kayak-canoe sport, especially the canoe discipline. Tamás Wichmann, the former canoe king, was a role model for many with his extraordinary career, including for György Kolonics, a two-time Olympic, multiple world and European champion who later became a canoe legend. Therefore, the foundation also considers it a priority to cultivate the memory of Tamás Wichmann, within the framework of which he is also pleased to play the role of patron of the regatta.
One of the most important tasks of our sport is to build a wide youth base and manage talent so that they can become the best in the world by following our role models. For this, the Wichmann Regatta can be a great motivational force, which gives participants the opportunity to gain an international competitive experience, develop international sports relations and friendships, and become more deeply attached to the sport. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the most prestigious international club competition of the autumn in Dunaújváros, Hungary.
